"The night of the fire, I was at my home in Santa Rosa and headed to Equi-ed on Porter Creek Road to evacuate horses. I drove back to Santa Rosa and dropped the horses at a friends place on the west side of town. I then drove to the east side of town and let horses out of the barn as the flames burned down Redwood Highway. Upon releasing the horses, I literally ran to my truck and drove to my home in Coffy Park. At 2 AM, I heard on the radio that the fire had jumped the 101 and was coming my way. So, I grabbed my boots, camping gear and my dog, jumped into my car and fled to my friend's house in Petaluma. The next morning, I heard that my neighborhood was gone." -Managing Director of Sunrise Horse Rescue Lindsay Merget stops in Calistoga to pick up diesel fuel."
